Sabrina Zhang (b. 2004, Iowa City) is a Providence based painter. Her work centers loneliness, alienation, and disorientation through repetitive acts of language and observation. Personal experiences are informed by word games, literature, film, and music. Objects and rituals become vessels for memory, desire, and anxiety. She is interested in the act of documentation as both an anxious obsession and as confirmation. Weaving into her painting practice is a writing practice that pushes the boundaries of experimental nonfiction and complicates the real and unreal. She has exhibited at Memorial Hall, RI, Woods-Gerry Gallery, RI, Bowen House Gallery, RI, the Fleet Library, RI. the Goethe-Institut, MA. In addition to participating, she recently curated You don’t know what I’m thinking about at Memorial Hall, RI. Sabrina will graduate from RISD with a BFA in Painting and a concentration in Literary Arts and Studies in 2026.
